All three of them.
Let’s dig deeper into this find then Dr Jones!

Remember when Sony Xplod sound gear was all the rage? You don’t? Well I remember. My first car was a 1989 Ford Laser GL (in fearsome Moroccan Beige) and one of the first things I did to it was add a Sony Xplod cd player and a few speakers. Considering the sound of the original Ford tape deck that it replaced, it was a magnificent upgrade. The rest of the car was pure Grandma spec, but at least Fatboy Slim’s ‘You’ve come a long way baby!’ boomed alright.
Flash forward to 2020 and I’ve come across another Laser with Xplod gear. Only a bit more modern and a million times louder than my first car..
My very first car was a Moroccan beige 1989 Ford Laser GL bought from another family member for the tune of $4500. Purchased in Grandma spec condition (you’ll probably guess from who now) in the year 2000, today we look back on what an amazing little thing it was and how much a decent example will set you back today.
Inspired by a Ford Laser TX3 I passed yesterday (with the rarer than hens teeth bullet style headlights) I was curious to find out what the going price was currently for the little turbo fed AWD buzz box. (Not that I’m buying one, but still..)
However a quick look on eBay has netted something even more curious – a TX3 convertible! This is the first time in my 34 years of rambling that I’ve ever seen one..
My very first car was a 1989 Ford Laser Gl sedan and I drove it into the ground (not literally). It was super cheap to run, got from A to B (very slowly), looked as cool as a cucumber sandwhich and helped me move house more times than I’d care to remember. So for today’s Bargain Banger write up, in memory of my own ‘beige beast’ I truly hope that someone saves this little Ford Laser from the scrapheap..
